Andalusia Design Center Offers Tremendous Value
Gordon and LeAnn Stockwell purchased the largest residence at Andalusia at Coral Mountain – the 5,089-square-foot Fiñana model – and then spent a considerable amount to upgrade their home including more than $150,000 in audio-visual technology and a climatized wine cellar. The couple moved to Andalusia in September 2007 after Gordon sold his mortgage banking business and retired. Their goal was to create a luxurious and comfortable primary residence.
Initially, they hired a local contractor to install upgraded Spanish pavers as their flooring which ended up being a nightmare, fraught with manufacturer defects and installation issues. After consulting with three experts, the only solution was to tear out the tile and reinstall.
Through the help of Andalusia’s on-site Design Center, the Stockwells had their tile floors completely redone with 24” light noche travertine. This time, they couldn’t be happier.
“It came out so beautiful,” comments LeAnn, “Our new flooring is amazing.”
The Stockwells obtained three bids for their new tile, including one from Andalusia’s Design Center. They also talked with Andalusia neighbors who were very satisfied with their work from the Design Center. The Stockwells' bid from the Design Center, while not the lowest, was very competitive. “The key is that by using Andalusia’s Design Center, we have the stability of a solid developer to rely on and that peace of mind is meaningful,” Gordon states.
“I’ve had a lot of work done at many houses over the years and this, from the beginning, was the most professional job ever,” he comments. “The quality of the installation was first rate. The professionalism of the Design Center and the contractors was superior. They laid out a plan up front in writing relative to the demo work, moving the appliances, finishing the work to getting the furniture moved back and cleaning the inside of the house. The job took three business weeks, which is phenomenal for a job this large and they beat their time estimate by a week,” he adds.
“A tile demo project involves more dust than you’ve ever seen in your life,” he explains. “The cleaning crew was here for two days and they cleaned the filters, the house, and the windows. It was meticulous.”
During the installation, Gordon lived in the casita so he could be onsite to monitor the progress, while LeAnn stayed at their townhome in Monarch Beach where they spend the summer.
For the Stockwells and for many Andalusia homeowners, Andalusia’s Design Center is both a great resource and a tremendous value.
